Updated October 18, 2026. The 2.0 section below describes the upcoming free update and takes effect for that version when it is released. If you are using 1.x, see Earlier versions below.

GolfBrain 2.0: no GolfBrain account

Version 2.0 does not ask for a login or email address. It does not include subscriptions, Firestore club storage, account-based device transfers, analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or advertising tracking.

Data on your device

Your bag, normal carry distances, reference conditions, home location and altitude, preferences, round timing, and cached weather are stored locally in the app’s data. Compatible club settings from the older app can be imported locally during an upgrade. The app shares your bag and play estimates with your paired Apple Watch using Apple’s WatchConnectivity service.

Alpenlogic does not run a cloud service for this 2.0 bag data. Apple device backup and system services remain governed by your device settings and Apple’s terms.

Location, altitude, heading, and maps

With your permission, the app uses location and altitude while it is in the foreground to estimate carry distances and request local weather. Heading is used for wind direction and drift estimates. A home reference location and altitude are saved when you choose to set them. The Settings map uses Apple’s map services.

You can manage or revoke location permission in your device’s Settings. Features that require those readings may become unavailable.

Weather requests to OpenWeather

To retrieve conditions, the iPhone sends its location coordinates to OpenWeather over an encrypted connection. As with other network requests, OpenWeather also receives network information such as the connecting IP address. This is a third-party service; the app’s local-storage design does not mean location never leaves your phone.

OpenWeather’s handling of service data is described in its privacy policy. An internet connection is needed to refresh conditions. Weather reports may not match conditions at your exact position.

Your choices and deletion

You can edit or remove clubs in My Bag and change the home reference in Settings. Removing the app removes its local app storage under the operating system’s normal behavior; device backups may keep earlier copies according to your Apple settings. There is no 2.0 GolfBrain account or Alpenlogic cloud profile to delete.

Earlier versions: GolfBrain 1.x

Earlier versions supported account identification, subscriptions, and cloud storage for device transfers. Their data practices are described in the original 1.x privacy policy. The original guide also remains available on the help page.

Updating to 2.0 or uninstalling an older app does not itself request deletion of pre-existing cloud records. To request deletion of older account data, use Delete My Data in the older app or contact us by email. This policy does not claim those historical records have already been deleted.
